Privacy Policy for esf Customers and/or Students
As part of the services it provides,the esf is required to collect your personal data.The purpose of this policy is to describe howthe esf uses this data in accordance with the provisions of the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation of 25 May 2018).
1. Did you know?
esf instructors carry out their work as self-employed individuals.
They organise themselves locally within the Écoles du Ski Français to organise the teaching, supervision and running of skiing and other snow sports in resorts.
To safeguard their interests, they also form local unions with legal personality. There is only one local union per resort.
The name ‘École du Ski Français’ is authorised by the National Union of French Ski Instructors (S.N.M.S.F.), established in 1945. Its aim is to organise the profession whilst ensuring that instructors retain their organisational and teaching autonomy.
When you use the services ofthe esf, your personal data is therefore processed by both the Local Union and the S.N.M.S.F., each acting as a data controller pursuing its own purposes.
In other words:

In other words:
- The Local Union processes your data to manage its contractual relationship with you (invoicing, payment, booking management, etc.), to carry out marketing activities and to comply with its legal obligations.
- The S.N.M.S.F. processes your data as it manages the central computerised booking system which enables the Local Unions to collect the data necessary for organisingesf services. The S.N.M.S.F. manages this computerised system for CRM processing purposes.
2. What data is collected?
a. General case
The personal data collected when you voluntarily register (online or at the ticket office), whether or not you make a booking, is as follows:
- Surname;
- First name;
- Date of birth;
- Level of education;
- Language(s) spoken;
- Postal address;
- Email address and;
- Telephone number.
b. Photographs or videos
The customer hereby grants permission, free of charge, toesf instructors, anesf service provider acting on behalf of the esf to take photographs, and/or an independent photographer, in connection with the sale of images which will be offered (after the images have been taken) to the customer, to photograph and/or film them during lessons delivered by the esf’s instructors and attended by the customer and/or during competitions organised by the esf in which the customer participates.
The client authorisesthe esf, theesf’s service provider who has acted on its behalf in the capture and/or use of the images (e.g. photography, video editing, etc.) and/or the freelance photographer acting on the ESF’s behalf in connection with the aforementioned service, where applicable, to use these images (photographs or videos), in particular by means of reproduction, display, screening and adaptation, these images (photographs or videos) on their website, social media or any other physical media such as leaflets, brochures, posters and other advertising material.
This authorisation is granted worldwide and for a period of 5 years from the date the said images were captured.
If the client is a minor, the client’s parents grantthe esf, the aforementionedesf service providers and/or the freelance photographer, in connection with the aforementioned service, authorisation to photograph, film and use their child’s image, under the same conditions.

c. ‘Etoile’ test results and esf competitions.
If you have taken part in the ‘ETOILE’ tests andesf competitions, your results are public and will be displayed at the Local Union’s premises and online.
d. Bank details
The bank details provided when placing your order are not collected by the Local Union or by the S.N.M.S.F. Encryption technology is used by our service provider to secure your transactions.
3. For what purposes?
Your personal data is collected for the purposes of carrying out esf activities.
It will be retained (in aggregated and anonymised form) for statistical purposes.
You are only asked to provide data that is strictly necessary for the smooth running ofthe esf’s servicesand for the protection of your vital interests.
If a third party (see below) needs to use personal data, we ensure that they are able to protect it.
We therefore have a legitimate interest in using your personal data, and this use does not infringe upon your freedom or your interests.
It will be retained (in aggregated and anonymised form) for statistical purposes.

4. Who are the recipients?
To ensure you receive a high-quality service, your data will be shared with:
- The management team of your resort’s Local Ski Association;
- To your esf instructor.
- The IT department of the S.N.M.S.F.;
- To our IT subcontractors (technical services) and e-commerce web development providers (sales analysis, CRM tools);
- Local authorities, if required by law.
5. Data security
The information collected is stored in a secure computerised database maintained by the Local Union and the S.N.M.S.F.
Appropriate measures are taken, both technical (e.g. firewalls) and organisational (e.g. usernames/passwords, physical security measures, etc.) to protect your data against destruction, loss or alteration, misuse and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure, whether such actions are unlawful or accidental.

6. Your rights
You have the right to object to the processing of your personal data, as well as the right to access, rectify and erase it.

7. Retention periods
The data collected is retained, archived and then anonymised by the Local Union and the S.N.M.S.F.
Before being anonymised, customers’ and pupils’ personal data will be archived for 10 years from the date of booking for accounting purposes (as invoices must be retained for 10 years from the end of the financial year).
Before being archived, it will be retained for three consecutive seasons in the Local Union’s ‘active database’ for marketing purposes. At the end of the aforementioned period, it will be archived if you do not respond to any communications fromthe esf.
Before being anonymised, customers’ and pupils’ personal data will be archived for 10 years from the date of booking for accounting purposes (as invoices must be retained for 10 years from the end of the financial year).

8. Cookies and web beacons
